MISSILES & MORE MUSEUM Topsail Island Historical Society
The museum is housed in the historic Assembly Building where rockets were assembled for launch at the beach. This TALOS missile was donated by the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory.
Inside there are picture displays of the Gold Hole and other area historical points of interest. They include the nearby Camp Davis, an Algonquin dugout canoe and local stories about Topsail Island history.
Operation Bumblebee rockets and videos of missile launchings here at the beach are described along with displays about the photographic tracking towers.
